Los Angeles, CA – Today, U.S. Representatives Derek Tran (CA-45) and Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) sent a letter to Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Hilda Solis, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna, and Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs (ALADS) President Robert Pippin, encouraging all parties to make progress on law enforcement contract negotiations ahead of several high-profile international events being hosted in Southern California.

LOS ANGELES — Two Los Angeles area members of Congress are wading into a year-long labor dispute between the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to encourage both sides to come to an agreement.

For over 12 months, negotiators from LA County and the ALADS have been trying to reach a contract deal that would run through 2028. The previous contract expired on Jan. 31, 2025, leaving thousands of deputy sheriffs and district attorney investigators without a contract for the last year.

“The killing of Renee Good, a U.S. citizen, by a masked ICE agent is not an "incident"—it is a profound failure of justice and a grotesque violation of the values we claim to uphold. My deepest condolences go to Renee’s family and her child, whose lives have been shattered by the reckless, state-sanctioned violence of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

December 19, 2025

Washington, DC – Yesterday, U.S. Representative Derek Tran (D-CA-45), alongside Representatives Jeff Hurd (R-CO-03) and Madeleine Dean (D-PA-04), introduced bipartisan legislation to prevent youth substance use. The Youth Substance Prevention and Awareness Act would allow federal grants to fund evidence-based public service announcement (PSA) campaigns designed to educate young people about the dangers of substance abuse.
