Youth Advisory Board
Mission Statement
Our Youth Advisory Board's mission is to provide unique and substantial hands-on legislative experience for civically engaged youth across LA and Orange Counties, supporting and inspiring the next generation of leaders within our local communities.
Overview
The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is a nine month-long public service program for high school students passionate about giving back to their community. Once a month, the board meets in-person (with a hybrid option available) to discuss existing federal legislation and propose policies to the Congressman that would benefit Orange and Los Angeles County. Board members are also responsible for developing a community action project aimed at serving the 45th Congressional District.
On the Youth Advisory Board, students will have the opportunity to:
- Research and discuss policies and legislation with other students on the board
- Highlight and discuss important issues facing our community's youth
- Learn about the processes and operations of a congressional office
- Meet and engage with U.S. Representative Tran and his staff about legislative priorities
Eligible students must be enrolled in grades 9 through 12 when the program begins and must reside within the 45th congressional district. Click here to find your congressional district.
All meetings for the 2026-2027 YAB session will run from 4:30pm-6:00pm on the last Tuesday of the month, unless stated otherwise. All meeting dates are subject to change.
