Youth Advisory Board
Mission Statement
Our Youth Advisory Board's mission is to provide unique and substantial hands-on legislative experience for CA-45's civically engaged youth, supporting and inspiring the next generation of leaders within our local communities.
Overview
The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is a nine month-long public service program for high school students passionate about giving back to their community. Once a month, the Board will meet in-person (with a virtual hybrid option) with Congressman Tran's office to discuss existing federal legislation and propose policy ideas that would benefit California's 45th congressional district. The board is also responsible for devising a community action project aimed toward serving our communities in Orange and LA Counties.
On the Youth Advisory Board, students will have the opportunity to:
- Research and discuss policies and legislation with other students on the board
- Highlight and discuss important issues facing our community's youth
- Learn about the processes and operations of a congressional office
- Meet and engage with U.S. Representative Tran and his staff about legislative priorities
Eligible students must be enrolled in grades 9 through 12 when the program begins and must reside within the 45th congressional district. Click here to find your congressional district.
All meetings for the 2025-2026 YAB session will run from 4:00-5:30 PM PST on the last Thursday of the month, unless stated otherwise. All meeting dates are subject to change.
