On Wednesday, members of the Orange County Board of Supervisors asked the company to provide compensation to those who were evacuated when an overheating tank of chemicals at its Garden Grove facility was at risk of causing a massive explosion.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Derek Tran (CA-45) and House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Robert Garcia (CA-42) demanded answers from GKN Aerospace Chief Executive Officer Peter Dilnot about the chemical emergency at the company’s facility in Garden Grove, California, that forced nearly 50,000 residents to evacuate their homes over Memorial Day Weekend.
Garden Grove, CA – U.S. Representative Derek Tran (CA-45) has been briefed by the Orange County Fire Authority that the threat to public health and safety at the GKN Aerospace plant, known as the “Western Incident,” has been lifted. The remaining 16,000 residents who have been evacuated may return to their homes effective 7:30 PM PST. There remains an exclusion zone around the facility to allow hazmat teams to continue monitoring the tanks out of an abundance of caution.
