As your Representative in Congress, I am committed to ensuring our community has access to federal funding opportunities that support essential programs and projects. Each year, Members of Congress can submit appropriations requests to advocate for funding levels and directives for federal agencies and programs. Additionally, through Community Project Funding (CPF), we can request direct funding for specific local projects that benefit the communities they represent.



March 11, 2025

Washington, DC – Congressman Derek Tran (CA-45) released the following statement on the Fiscal Year 2025 government funding bill, known as the Continuing Resolution (CR):

“I was sent to Congress by the people of California’s 45th district to look out for their interests. After careful consideration, I’ve concluded that the Continuing Resolution (CR) proposed by House Republicans will hurt the people of CA-45.

“Tonight, I went to the Capitol to listen to President Trump’s address with an open mind and a steadfast commitment to my constituents in California’s 45th district. 

“I hoped to hear about the President’s plans to lower costs for working families, keep Americans safe, and protect our status as a global leader for freedom and democracy.

Rep. Derek Tran is supporting a bill, the Protect Veteran Jobs Act, which asks for any veteran terminated without reason from the federal government since President Trump’s turn, to be reinstated.

Issues: Veterans

As of February 23, 2025, it has been reported that nearly 6,000 veterans have been terminated from their federal civilian service jobs as a result of mass firings executed by the Trump Administration across many agencies.



February 26, 2025

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Derek Tran (CA-45) introduced the Protect Veteran Jobs Act to reinstate Veterans who have been removed or dismissed from federal employment without cause since President Trump empowered Elon Musk to indiscriminately purge the federal workforce. The bill also requires each executive branch agency to report to Congress on a quarterly basis the veterans who have been removed from civilian service roles and the justification for such removal.

Rep. Derek Tran, D-Calif., joins Morning Joe to discuss the 'Protect Veteran Jobs Act,' which would allow for the reinstatement of any veteran who was removed or dismissed from federal employment since President Trump took office and began indiscriminately purging the federal workforce.
