Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Derek Tran (CA-45) announced a series of events and ongoing projects commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Fall of Saigon, also known as Black April or “Tháng Tư Đen” in Vietnamese. Fifty years after the oppressive communist regime took hold of South Vietnam on April 30, 1975, and fifty years since the first wave of the exodus, Rep. Tran will honor the sacrifices and resilience of the Vietnamese refugee community and recognize the diaspora’s significant contributions to our nation.

WESTMINSTER, CA – Today, Congressman Tran joined leaders in Westminster to officially unveil the newly designated "Little Saigon Vietnam War Veterans Memorial Post Office" located at 9317 Bolsa Avenue. The designation of the post office recognizes the bravery, sacrifice, and enduring commitment of Vietnam War veterans in the heart of the largest Vietnamese American community.

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Derek Tran sent a letter to Secretary of State Rubio requesting immediate assistance to secure the release of Le Huu Minh Tuan. The government of Vietnam has faced consistent criticism for its human rights record, particularly regarding its treatment of political dissent. Many journalists, human rights advocates, and activists like Mr. Tuan have been unjustly detained under questionable circumstances.
