Trong cuộc hội thoại, ông Derek tái khẳng định rằng GKN Aerospace phải chịu hoàn toàn trách nhiệm về những hỗn loạn và gián đoạn mà hơn 50,000 cư dân cùng 5,000 doanh nghiệp nhỏ đã phải gánh chịu do cuộc khủng hoảng hóa chất độc hại tại nhà máy của công ty này ở Garden Grove.

Garden Grove, CA – Today, Representative Derek Tran (CA-45) spoke again with the leadership of GKN Aerospace. The Congressman reiterated how GKN Aerospace must take full accountability for the chaos and disruption experienced by over 50,000 residents and 5,000 small businesses impacted by the hazmat crisis at their Garden Grove plant.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Derek Tran (CA-45) and House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Robert Garcia (CA-42) demanded answers from GKN Aerospace Chief Executive Officer Peter Dilnot about the chemical emergency at the company’s facility in Garden Grove, California, that forced nearly 50,000 residents to evacuate their homes over Memorial Day Weekend.


May 26, 2026

Garden Grove, CA – U.S. Representative Derek Tran (CA-45) has been briefed by the Orange County Fire Authority that the threat to public health and safety at the GKN Aerospace plant, known as the “Western Incident,” has been lifted. The remaining 16,000 residents who have been evacuated may return to their homes effective 7:30 PM PST. There remains an exclusion zone around the facility to allow hazmat teams to continue monitoring the tanks out of an abundance of caution.

Garden Grove, CA – U.S. Representative Derek Tran (CA-45) has been briefed by the Orange County Fire Authority that the imminent threat of a catastrophic explosion at the GKN Aerospace plant, known as the “Western Incident,” has been lifted. While there is still a potential risk to the immediate area within the updated boundaries of the evacuation zone, 65% of residents will be permitted to return to their homes effective 6:00 PM PST.
