The No Getting Rich in Congress Act establishes strong, enforceable standards to prevent public officials from profiting from conflicts of interest and implements stringent transparency measures to prevent officials and their spouses from influencing government decisions for personal gain.

“President Trump’s decision to launch unilateral strikes against Iran without prior notification or authorization from Congress is a dangerous overreach of executive power. By bypassing Congress, this Administration has not only ignored the law but has also sidelined the American people in a decision that puts the lives of our service members at immediate risk.

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Derek Tran (CA-45) joined over 60 House colleagues in a letter to the Trump Administration’s Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA) decrying a proposed rule change which would make it more difficult for disabled Veterans to access essential health care. At the urging of House Veterans Affairs Committee Ranking Member Mark Takano (CA-39), Representative Tran, and their colleagues, the VA quickly reversed course.

Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, U.S. Representatives Derek Tran (CA-45) and Andrea Salinas (OR-06) and U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) held a press conference to introduce bicameral legislation to hold U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) liable for violating American citizens’ constitutional rights.

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Derek Tran (CA-45) issued a statement following his vote against the Senate-amended version of H.R. 7148, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2026, which provides full-year funding for certain agencies and a two-week continuing resolution for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This “minibus” legislation funds the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agencies under DHS without any reforms to the agencies’ current practices.

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Derek Tran (CA-45) announced his co-sponsorship of H. Res.996, a Congressional resolution to impeach Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem for high crimes and misdemeanors in response to the pattern of escalating force and lethal violence exhibited by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers under her leadership.

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Derek Tran (CA-45) cosponsored legislation introduced by Representative Donald Norcross (NJ-01) to increase transparency and accountability in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations. H.R. 5653, the Trust Through Transparency Act, would require all ICE officials to wear body cameras when interacting with the public in immigration enforcement operations.
