Cerritos, CA – On Tuesday, Rep. Derek Tran (CA-45) met with Latino leaders from California’s 45th congressional district for a roundtable meeting, during which they discussed the barriers facing the Latino community and how Rep. Tran can support the community in Congress.

“I’m deeply honored to be here with so many inspiring Latino community leaders–business owners, advocates, educators, and neighbors,” said Rep. Derek Tran. “As a proud Member of Congress, it’s my job to listen, learn, and lead with your voices at the center of my work in Washington. Our discussion today is a part of my commitment to ensuring that your priorities are reflected in the decisions we make and the policies we fight for. I am here today because I know that when we listen to our communities, we govern better. I want to hear about the challenges you face, the ideas you bring forward, and the ways that we can work together to build a future in which every family has the same opportunities to thrive.”

During the roundtable, Latino leaders working with various community organizations explained their concerns about the issues that are affecting the Latino community, including potential cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, and high tariffs that are hurting Latino-owned small businesses. Rep. Tran shared his work to protect the interests of every constituent, and reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a strong relationship with the Latino community.

In attendance were Latino community leaders from all sectors of society, including from the following organizations:

  • Cerritos College
