Congressman Derek Tran's Statement on White House Attempt to Pause Federal Funding

Tuesday, January 28, 2025

Washington, D.C.  –  Congressman Derek Tran (CA-45) issued the following statement in response to an attempt by the White House to pause federal funding:

“I am astonished by the Trump Administration’s reckless move to freeze federal aid and prevent critical resources from reaching American families and communities.

“I have been in touch with community leaders in California’s 45th district who are terrified and confused about the implications of this reckless action. Families all over Southern California are feeling the effects of devastating fires and they are counting on federal aid to help their families and communities rebuild their lives.

“At a time when families are facing rising costs, the Trump administration is abandoning the most vulnerable - including Veterans facing homelessness, young children who rely on WIC, and struggling schools in need of block funding to pay teachers.

“I urge the Trump administration to put the safety and security of the American people first and halt all efforts to block this essential funding. I will do everything in my power to ensure that my constituents in CA-45 have the resources they deserve.”
